Day 78: Metapod

I head back to the village and heal up. I also stop by this guy's house:
“Fire-type moves will become
more powerful when a Pokemon
holds that.”
I give it for Quilava to hold. It powers up fire moves by precisely 20%. Should prove to be useful down the line. For now, though, it's back to the woods.
 The farfetched guys are gone.
I give Cut to Quilava, replacing tackle. I should catch an HM donkey eventually, though, because most HM moves are pretty bad.
Apparently teaching her cut is tantamount to summoning Cthulhu, because the game glitches out. Suddenly Stalin and Nelly are black and the area around the tree looks like it's being eaten up by some kind of sprite netherworld.

One reset later...

Here's a shrine. I think it's related to one of those official events where they alter data on your cart if you bring it in. As I said in my first post, I'm considering cheating to access this content. That's after I beat the game though, so I can put this decision off a couple years...
Anyway, a Metapod snags me here.
Nelly kills it dead with a nice bite.

Day 77: Caterpie

I've been told that I am a goofy, goofy man and I actually did save back then. You can tell by Nelly's experience bar in the shots provided. I blame the goof on my budding insanity.
Anyway, I enact my plan to catch Farfetch'd.
 Metal geared that shit.
“Thank you so much!
My boss's Pokemon won't obey me,
because I don't have a Badge.
Phew. You saved me.”
“You found them for us, kid?
Without them, we wouldn't be able to
cut trees for charcoal.
Thanks, kid!
Now, how can I thank you...?
I know! Here, take this.”
And with that, I'm actually going to head back to Azalea Town. There's a useful item to be gained after doing this mini-game.
Not three steps from the Cut guy, this guy shows up.
 Cadaverpie.

Day 76: Caterpie

So I think I forgot to save yesterday. Because this is where I was two days ago. FML.
And I get caught almost immediately!
this is fun isnt it carlisle

Day 75: Metapod

So I've figured it out. What you're supposed to to is bait Farfetch'd into the upper right corner, then surprise him with the branches next to the trees behind him. That causes him to turn around (facing east). From there you can go around the trees and grab him while his back is turned.

Puzzles are tough when you play for 10 minutes a day.

And now, Metapod.
 Deadapod.

Day 74: Zubat

So... I've managed to get Farfetch'd over here now. It isn't helping. But at least a Zubat decided to show up!

Day 73: Caterpie

Here's the second Farfetch'd. Presumably you need to spook him from the right to get him in a better position, but I got a battle here.
A critical Bite one-shots it.

Day 72: Zubat

So here we have Nelly taking a bite out of the wild Zubat. She gets confused though. Since confusion is bullshit, I bring out Quilava instead.
God dammit. I'll deal with confusion just this once. Use your Ember, Quilava!
 God dammit.
On her second try, she manages to finish Zubat off.

Day 71: Metapod -- Ilex Forest

Glad to be done with all those plot elements. Today all I have to deal with is an insipid minigame!
“The FARFETCH'D that cut trees for
charcoal took off in the forest.
Can you catch them for me?
FARFETCH'D have sensitive ears.
If you step on a branch, they will face
toward you. That's your chance.
Sneak up from behind and catch them...
Do you think you can do that?”
This first one is painfully simple. I just go around that path of trees in the back and nab him from behind.
“But...
There is one more missing.
If you step on a branch, it will face
that way, remember?
That's your chance to catch it.
Sneak up on it slowly from behind.”
Thanks, I had forgotten what I learned 15 seconds ago
No time for farfetched minigames though, I've got a Metapod to fight!
Nelly's really come into her own now that she has Bite. And is fighting much weaker Pokemon.
 Metapod makes a brilliant ploy...
But Nelly's is brillianter.
