 Heartbroken, I leave the daycare in a huff.

After collecting myself, I switch to Rhianna. She's going to be useful for the upcoming Gym, so I need to train her.

 Funnily enough, if you meet this guy at night, he finds you suspicious and challenges you. Since I can skip him, I've only got one trainer left before Goldenrod.

Good thing I switched, because Vine Whip beats Psyduck within an inch of its life. I ready Vine Whip for the next turn, but Psyduck uses Disable and prevents her from using it. Luckily, I've got one other way to deal damage...

 He gets a scratch in, but then succumbs to poison. Rhianna levels up and I teach her Stun Spore, getting rid of Growth.

 Seems like a swell dude so I give him my number.

Day 83: Youngster Ian

 I'm gonna need a bun, 'cause this kid is a wiener.

 To begin, Nelly uses Bite. Dark-type is weak to Fighting type, but it causes him to flinch so I don't care.

 I continue with the Bites. Mankey wastes his turns on Leer and Focus Energy, not once hitting Nelly before dying.

 Finish him off with Astonish, allowing her to hit level 16.

 He also has a Diglett, but Rhianna makes very short work of it.

“in my class, wouldn't I?

I want to get stronger before that

could happen, so would you trade phone

numbers with me?

Then we can have Pokemon battles together!”

 I say no, because this kid drives an Oscar Meyer car.

Day 82: Pokefan Brandon

Bite doesn't do much damage, but it does cause Snubbull to flinch.

 Both 'mons beat eachother up quite a bit, and Snubbull uses Charm, which significantly reduces Nelly's attack. I decide to bring out Rhianna.

 Rhianna finishes it off within a few turns.

 Mareep isn't much more difficult.

Suddenly, Mom calls...

“I found a useful item while shopping, so

I bought it with your money. Sorry!

But I asked the deliveryman to take it

to you, so you should stop by the

nearest Poke mart or Department Store

and pick it up! I know it'll be useful!"

Can't tell if this is abusive behavior or not.

Day 81: Youngster Samuel -- Route 34

 I grab an Ether. Going to use these like crack going forward. 

I follow the Geisha...

 Thankfully, even though it was a bit of a walk, I managed to get out of the woods. Unfortunately, I'm not out of the woods yet. Route 34 is decently long, with half a dozen trainers between me and Goldenrod City.

 For some reason, this is the only good shot I get of Ratata. Nowadays I've taken to showing a picture of my 'mons using their moves, right after the damage is calculated on the enemy. It establishes who is fighting who, what move is being used, and how effective it is. But I guess I don't remember to take the shot this time, so you'll just have to take my word for it when I say Nelly one-shots it with bite. It's a real stretch of the imagination, I know.

 Least I don't screw up Sandshrew. Nelly Bites and Astonishes him, but he manages to land a few obnoxious Sand Attacks before she's able to take him down.

  Nelly's attacks start to miss often enough that I send in the cleaning crew instead.

 Samuel has another Spearow. It does not end well for him. Quilava levels up and learns Flame Wheel!

“Gym leader!”

 Then you'll need to dye your hair, gain a one-dimensional character trait, and clothe yourself differently from the 40 other youngsters who roam Johto.

Day 80: Caterpie

“Ilex forest.

What?

You remember me from Violet City?

You must be imagining.

Anyway, will you show me

how to get out of this forest?

Aren't you lost in the forest as well?

How do you know how to get out of here?"

Suddenly, Nelly flies away.

"You are such a smart Pokemon!

See you."

 After she leaves, Nelly comes back. Not two steps after that...

 I'm running out of new ways to explain that Nelly used bite to one-shot Caterpie, so I'll just say Nelly used bite to one-shot Caterpie. Also what the hell just happened?

Day 79: Metapod

 I get jumped in this nook.

 According to Carlisle, I've killed all the Metapods. We'll never see them again!
